Florida, the sunshine state. Known for Disney World, white sand beaches, the Keys, gators, meth heads (I kid Florida, I kid) and of course, golf!
Not only are there incredible places to golf in Florida, but because of the magnificent weather you can golf year round. In fact, according to many experts, it’s best to plan a trip from October to May. During this time of year the weather is a bit more mild so you won’t have to pack a suitcase full of powder.
If you’re planning a golf trip to a resort in Florida you may have some questions. Where should you go, play and stay?
Why not do all 3 in one place and stay at a golf resort.
Florida Golf Resorts
Florida isn’t short on golf courses or resorts. I don’t have the exact numbers, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it had more than any other state, so we’ve compiled this list of golf resorts in Florida based on certain criteria from Tripadvisor.com (affiliate policy).
When evaluating the different golf resorts we considered the number of ratings, rating value, resorts amenities, and most importantly golf. The quality of golf is a major factor, considering this is a golf website and all.
We’ll also provide a basic idea of the price but we didn’t necessarily consider it in the ranking formula. You know what you can afford so we’ll let you decide what’s too expensive or not. So without further ado, and in no particular order, here are the….
Best Golf Resorts in Florida
Hilton Sandestin Beach, Golf Resort & Spa
The Hilton Sandestin is located in Miramar Beach, Florida on the gulf side in the pan handle of the sunshine state. Once you see some pictures of the resort it’s easy to see why it ranks on our list.
Amenities: The Hilton Sandestin isn’t short on amenities. It has all the standard amenities of a business center, concierge, dry cleaning, etc. but it also takes it to the next level. They offer a beach front resort, pool, world class spa and 7 dining options ranging from a casual coffee shop to a fine dining steak house. There is no shortage of things to do at the resort.
You may be thinking, but what if I’m golfing and my spouse is in at the spa; Who will watch the kids? Don’t worry, they offer babysitting services. How cool is that?
Let’s get down to brass tax; how’s the golf? Well it’s extraordinary and there’s a lot of it. There’s not one, not two, not three, but four golf courses to choose from. You can stay for nearly a week and you won’t have to play the same course twice.
They offer 2 Tom Jackson creations, a Robert Trent Jones Jr., and a Rees Jones course that was called the “Crown Jewel of Florida Golf” by Golf Magazine. How could you go wrong?
With it’s northern location the golf resort is perfect for travelers up and down the east coast and easily accessible for southerners. Take a break this winter and treat yourself.
LaPlaya Beach & Golf Resort, A Noble House Resort
The LaPlaya Beach & Golf Resort is located in the beautiful town of Naples, Florida. If you’re not familiar with Naples it’s located pretty far down south on the west coast of Florida. It’s just about as far down south as you can get before you reach the Everglades.
Amenities: LaPlaya might not have the amount of amenities that other resorts have, but what it does have is one thing…luxury. This place is luxury through and through. They do offer a fitness center, beach butler service, pool cabanas, a spa and 4 dining options. It’s got a great laid back-boutique feeling you don’t get at other, larger resorts.
The resort only offers one golf course but it’s considered one of the finest in Naples. The golf course itself has a 5 out of 5 rating with over 100+ reviews.
If you plan to stay for a few days, and don’t want to leave the resort, but you want to play multiple courses, this isn’t the place for you. But, if you don’t mind venturing out a little bit it can be a great place to stay. There’s a lot of other golf courses in the Naples area that are just a short drive away. We’d hate to see you pass up LaPlaya. If boutique luxury is your style you don’t want to miss out.
Rosen Shingle Creek
You can’t have a Florida golf resort blog post and not have a resort in Orlando. Enter, Rosen Shingle Creek.

The Shingle Creek Golf Club is newly redesigned by the “legendary” Arnold Palmer Design Company. This is the only golf course at the resort, but it is beautiful. Pretty sure I could play this course all day every day and never get sick of it, but if some how you do, there’s no shortage of golf courses in the Orlando area. If Florida is the golf capital of America, Orlando is the heart beat.
Sheraton PGA Vacation Resort Villas
I don’t want to say that these Villas are no frills, because they are very nice, but if you’re staying here you came to do one thing…GOLF!
The Sheraton Villas are located in the PGA Village™ in scenic Port St. Lucie, which bills itself as, “The Ultimate Golf Resort.”

If that’s not enough they have a course named after ‘Samuel Ryder, the namesake and founder of the Ryder Cup’.
In other words, they take their golf seriously at the PGA Village, so if you’re planning a serious golf vacation this is the resort for you.
Boca Beach Club – A Waldorf Astoria Resort
Perhaps there’s no other name in the world that is synonymous with luxury than Waldorf Astoria, and the Boca Beach Club is no exception.
Amenities: Do you want to stay in one of the most luxurious resorts in the country and also learn how to surf? At the Boca Beach Club you can spend your days relaxing on the beach or in the spa, or you could enjoy a number of outdoor activities including a sculpture tour. Whether you prefer a laid back atmosphere or you want your days jam packed with adventures, there’s something for everyone.
When I say the name Dave Pelz what do you think of? Did you say the Short Game? Well, if you want to improve your short game while staying in a luxurious resort you’re in luck. The Dave Pelz Scoring Game School may be just what you need to take your game to the next level.
If you’d prefer to play, not only will you have 2 different options to choose from, you’ll be playing on some of the most historic courses in the State. The Resort Course & the Country Club Course (a short shuttle drive away) really have to be seen to be believed. My writing can’t do them justice. If you’re looking for a place rich in history, with stunning scenery and luxury amenities this is your resort.
PGA Resort & Spa
Want to play where the pros play? Literally! If you want to play where the PGA tour hosts the Honda Classic then book your next golf trip to the PGA Resort & Spa
Amenities: The resort & spa has no shortage of amenities. They offer a wide variety of dining options, and they have a pool area that exudes luxury and relaxation, but the real star of the show is the golf.
The resort is is home to 5 golf courses but the star of the show is the Champion Course. It’s a Nicklaus design that is home to the Honda Classic. Since it hosts a PGA Tour event you know it’ll be a challenge, but did you know the PGA named it the most difficult course in Florida? Put your skills to the test on this legendary course and see if you can escape “the bear trap”.
The 4 other courses at the resort are no slouches either. No matter what course you chose to play, one thing is for sure…your stay at the PGA Resort and Spa will be a memorable one.
Reunion Resort, A Salamander Golf & Spa Resort
Check out the Reunion Resort and all it has to offer.
Seriously…this place is off the charts. It’s also in a great central location near major airports so it’s easy to get to as well.
Amenities: This may not be the type of place you want to stay if you’re looking to have a quiet couples weekend. This place is jam packed with family-fun activities. It’s got water parks, playgrounds, tree canopies and bike tours. It even offers a “parents night out” so after a fun filled day you can enjoy a romantic night out at one of the 6 dining options. There is certainly no shortage of fun activities to do at Reunion.
Let’s face it; you’re reading this post for the golf. Well, Reunion has what you’re looking for. They have a Golf Academy that offers private instruction & golf schools. Classes range from a short game school, to junior camps, and half, full & 2-3 day golf schools. This place is a great choice when you’re looking to relax, have fun and improve your golf game.
If you’ve been practicing your game all year and want to test out your skills on the links, don’t worry, they’ve got you covered there as well. Do the names Watson, Palmer & Nicklaus mean anything to you? At Reunion these are the names of the 3 courses you can play.
Each course has its own unique style, but all of them have won a crazy amount of awards. From GOLF Magazine’s ‘Top 10 Best New Courses You Can Play’ to Golf Digest’s ‘America’s Best New Resort Courses (2005)’, these courses are sure to leave even the most seasoned golfer impressed.
They also have some of the best golf resort packages available. Golf Gourmand highly recommends the unlimited package. The rates are great and on mid-stay days you can play as much golf as you can squeeze in. It doesn’t get much better than that.
Streamsong may be one of the most picturesque resorts out there. It’s the perfect combination of luxury, beauty, elegance & most importantly, great golf!
This isn’t the type of place you want to take the kids. This place is perfect for a couple’s retreat or a weekend with the guys. If you are a hard core golfer that wants to appreciate the finer courses, and understands the true meaning of golf, then Streamsong is where you need to be.
It’s latest course just opened in 2017 bringing the total number of courses to 3, and each one is better than the next. It truly is a golfer’s paradise that you’ve got to see to believe.
